The former Habs captain only had time to score three goals in five games this season, and with the Hurricanes being one of the best teams in the NHL this year, it's a safe bet that the organization will want to improve for the playoffs.
The trade deadline is fast approaching and many teams will certainly be liquidating players who will become uncompensated free agents this summer. So, as reported by Jean-Christophe Matte of Fanadiens.com, Hurricanes GM Don Waddell may have some interesting options with the Habs.
At least, that's what an Internet user said via his Twitter account.
It's not a bad idea that Kent Hughes could trade one of these three players to the Hurricanes, but honestly, I have big doubts about the trade value the Habs could get, in return.
Jonathan Drouin is currently on the injured list, while Evgeny Dadonov and Mike Hoffman don't have a very good value right now. It's nice to think that all the Habs players have a good value, but let's say that it's far from being the case, right now.
Kent Hughes doesn't usually trade a player without being sure to get something substantial in return but I ask you the question anyway.
In short, it's true that if the Canes go into panic mode and if they absolutely want to replace Pacioretty with a winger, a player like Dadonov, Drouin or Hoffman could possibly help them.
