In the last few hours, Juraj Slafkovsky's former Slovak coach Craig Ramsay offered a very interesting interview to the Journal de Montréal.
In it, he obviously talks about his former player, Slafkovsky, but also about the intriguing discussions he had with one of the CH's special advisors, Vincent Lecavalier (before the 2022 draft).
In particular, Lecavalier made regular inquiries about Slafkovsky,
but also, oh my, he has been asking a lot about the second overall pick, Simon Nemec, another Slovak.
"I talked to Vinny. He called me twice. Once quickly after the lottery and a week before the draft. We had talked for almost 45 minutes both times. He was pulling out all the info he could on Slafkovsk and Nemec."
We shouldn't draw too many conclusions, especially since it's now in the past, but it's interesting.
Especially since it's perfectly normal for a team to do its homework on a player as interesting as Nemec.
Kent Hughes confirmed, a few hours before the draft, that he was hesitating between three players. We concluded that the players in question were Slafkovsky, Shane Wright and Logan Cooley, but perhaps one of those players was Nemec.
