Kent Hughes is the new Montreal Canadiens general manager. He will have gone through the Habs' hiring process to determine who will work with Jeff Gorton.
Several people were considered by the organization, including Mathieu Darche, Marc Denis and Patrick Roy, to name a few. They obviously won't be able to become the Habs' GM, but could one of the candidates be selected to become an assistant general manager?
With Trevor Timmins out of the picture, that position has yet to be filled.
Raphaël Doucet addressed the issue on 91.9 Sports.
He mentioned three names that could be considered for such a position: Marc Denis, Daniel Brière and Danièle Sauvageau. After all, many individuals have had to work their way up the ladder to reach the ultimate goal of becoming GM of an NHL organization.
This would be a great opportunity for one of them to learn the trade alongside Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes. The Habs could have quite a team at the administrative level with so many incredible hockey heads in their backyard.
