In Nashville, well-informed journalists believe that the days of young forward Philip Tomasino with the Preds might be numbered.
He is promising, but he is behind several forwards in the organization in the Predators' hierarchy, and he is not a fourth-line player.
Knowing that Filip Forsberg, Ryan O'Reilly, Gustav Nyquist, Steven Stamkos, and Jonathan Marchessault will definitely be in the top 6, that leaves only one spot for Tommy Novak, Luke Evangelista, Juuso Parssinen, Philip Tomasino, and a few other good young forwards they have.
Several sources believe that it is indeed young Tomasino who will suffer, especially since coach Andrew Brunette has not shown great confidence in him in recent months.
The message is clear.
Tomasino, aged 23, is a 6-foot, 179-pound forward. He was the 24th overall pick (1st round) of the 2019 draft, the same draft as Kirby Dach, Cole Caufield, and Alex Newhook.
Tomasino amassed 100 points, including 40 goals, in his final OHL season. He added a very impressive 32 points in 29 games in his rookie AHL season, and he has accumulated 70 points in the National Hockey League.
Montreal could be a viable option for him, and he fits perfectly the player profile Kent Hughes is looking for.
So, it's an additional option to keep in mind for the Canadiens.
