We reported it yesterday, and now the move has officially been made by the Canadiens. This likely signals the end of Cayden Primeau's time with the team.
Do not be surprised if the 25-year-old goaltender is eventually placed on NHL waivers in an attempt to send him to the Laval Rocket.
For now, the three-goalie rotation is back in Montreal.
Here is the official confirmation:
Primeau, 25, has a record of 2-3-1 this season, with a goals-against average of 4.70 and a historically poor save percentage of 0.836.
Dobes, 23, has a record of 9-3-1 this season in Laval, with a goals-against average of 2.44 and a save percentage of 0.910.
It's a nice late Christmas gift for Jakub Dobes and a less pleasant one for Cayden Primeau.
The Canadiens will play back-to-back games in Florida (against the Panthers and Lightning) on Saturday and Sunday, so it is expected that Dobes will get one of those starts.
Whether it's in Sunrise or Tampa, it will be quite a challenge for the young Dobes, but I truly believe he is ready to take it on.
If it were your decision, would you start Dobes against the Lightning or the Panthers? (assuming he's playing one of the two games)
Details to follow.
