Canadiens' Newest Acquisition from the Oilers Temporarily Leaves the Organization as a Statement Is Released
A young defenseman from the Montreal Canadiens organization has indeed left temporarily, for a set period and for a very good reason. The Laval Rocket has confirmed the news.
In recent weeks, Noel Hoefenmayer has quickly become an important piece for Pascal Vincent's team and is on the radar to possibly become a Canadiens player in the future.
As we recently reported, Hoefenmayer even "pushed aside" young Logan Mailloux, taking his spot on the Rocket's power play.
Noel Hoefenmayer temporarily leaves the Canadiens organization to play in the Spengler Cup
Indeed, Hoefenmayer, recently acquired by Kent Hughes in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers, will temporarily leave the team to represent the Canadian squad at the Spengler Cup, which will take place from December 26 to 31.
Here's an excerpt from the official statement released by the Laval Rocket:
«The Laval Rocket announced that it will temporarily release defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer so he can represent Canada at the Spengler Cup tournament.»

He was acquired from the Oilers on December 6 in exchange for Jacob Perreault.
Since then, he has recorded 1 point in 3 games with the Laval Rocket, along with four penalty minutes and a positive +/- rating of +1.
Beyond the stats, his play has been praised by several experts and his new head coach.
Finally, according to information reported by journalist Anthony Marcotte, Charles Hudon, Daniel Carr, Logan Shaw, and Philippe Maillet will also be part of this Canadian squad for the Spengler Cup.
Here's what the player had to say following the announcement:
«I'm very excited. It's always an honor to wear Canada's jersey.
I got the call the other day, and I'm really lucky to have the chance to do this.»
Noel Hoefenmayer
We wish him the best of luck there!
