In the past few hours, Kent Hughes unsurprisingly decided to cut goaltender Jakub Dobes, who had a great camp, in order to keep only two goalies in Montreal (namely Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau).
Notably, to make room for Dobes, we've seen further personnel changes within the organization, particularly concerning the goaltending position.
See the official announcement:
Luke Cavallin and Hunter Jones are expected to be your 2024-2025 goaltenders for the Trois-Rivières Lions, with the possibility for them to eventually rise through the ranks.
Jones, only 24 years old, is a 6-foot-4, 194-pound goalie who was a second-round pick of the Minnesota Wild in the 2019 Draft (59th overall) and has solid potential.
In recent seasons, he has posted save percentages of 0.889, 0.929, and 0.884 in the AHL, along with 0.890 and 0.905 in the ECHL.
He's a name to watch.
Cavallin, 23, is a 6-foot-1, 196-pound goalie who went undrafted in the NHL. He played 8 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate last season.
Both goalies attended the Montreal Canadiens' training camp just a few weeks ago.
Further details to follow.
