Shane Wright's name has come up in recent news because his team was shockingly swept in the OHL playoffs.

A huge surprise.

The Windsor Spitfires were heavily favored to eliminate Filip Mesar and the Kitchener Rangers, but that didn't happen at all.

Local media are talking about a historic turn of events.

While many defended Wright, an anonymous source revealed the sad truth about the young player:

Regardless of what some say, he has been very ordinary (at the most crucial moment of the season, no less).
Take a look at what junior hockey expert Mikaël Lalancette shared:

From a scout I greatly respect:

"Kitchener was bad in the regular season but took a good step in the playoffs. Windsor... 'extremely disappointing.' The 'great' Shane Wright... meh."

Clearly, Wright's value continues to decline, and he keeps disappointing. The era of "exceptional player" Shane Wright seems to be over.

Don't get us wrong! He can still become a solid NHL-caliber player, but his potential appears to be lower than anticipated, which is obviously a relief for Montreal Canadiens fans.

In a way, it takes some pressure off a player like Juraj Slafkovsky.

Could Logan Cooley ultimately be the best player in the 2022 draft? It's still much too early to say, but the question is worth asking.
