Kept out of the game for the entirety of the last season due to a recurring hip injury, Paul Byron will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The future of his career being at stake due to the injury, Byron would be rather indecisive about his future, as he still wishes to attempt a comeback.

Some keen-eyed fans may have noticed that in recent games, Byron was seated in Jeff Gorton's box, rather than with the other injured players of the Canadiens.

Could this mean that the 33-year-old forward could be given a new role within the organization?

One thing is for sure, Byron would be more than happy to remain within the organization, as he made clear during the team's end-of-season review.

A particular position!

Regarding the role he would like to undertake once his playing career is over, Byron mentioned that he would like to get a coaching position in player development.

Having been in the organization for eight years, Byron does not hide the fact that he wants to stay in Montreal, no matter what the future holds for him.

Good news, the Canadiens management seems to be on the same wavelength. The only thing left to know is what decision Paul Byron will make, whether he will try to continue his career as a player or if he will hang up his skates definitively in the coming months.
