Patrick Kane has been on fire in recent games as the Blackhawks have won three straight games, something that hasn't happened very often this season.

In those games, the number 88 scored no less than five goals, including a hat trick on Sunday against the powerful Toronto Maple Leafs.

Could he be sending a message to the New York Rangers who preferred Vladimir Tarasenko?

Maybe, but one thing is for sure, he is currently one of the biggest names available between now and March 3rd.

While he can most likely write off his desire to play in New York for good, Kane will undoubtedly be of interest to a few teams looking for punch on offense heading into the playoffs, and as we know, the Edmonton Oilers are one of the teams that will be trying to make a big splash before the deadline.

Speaking of which, as reported by Marco Normandin of Habsolumentfan.com, a huge trade proposal was recently revealed by a reputable insider.

Frank Seravalli, of Daily Faceoff, went with this trade proposal between the Oilers and Blackhawks:

To Chicago: Jesse Puljujarvi, Xavier Bourgault, a second-round pick in 2023 and a fifth-round pick in 2025.

To Edmonton: Patrick Kane.

This would be huge, and it's not impossible. The Oilers are seriously interested in Kane, according to reliable sources.

Puljujarvi's name is mentioned in almost every Oilers rumour and as for Bourgault, he is having a very respectable first season with the Oilers' feeder club.

The former Shawinigan Cataractes first round pick in 2021 has 24 points in 49 games with the Bakersfield Condors in the American League.

However, I wonder if Patrick Kane could be a good acquisition for the Oilers because the team's problem is certainly not on offense. They have the best offense in the NHL this season and the problem is mostly on defense as the team has just dropped two consecutive games where they had a three goal lead in the second period.

Also, Kane will be a free agent at the end of the season and sacrificing a prospect of Bourgault's caliber may not be a good idea in the medium to long term.

However, since the trades involving Bo Horvat, Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O'Reilly, Kane is probably the biggest name that could change addresses between now and March 3 and we can bet that many hockey fans would love to see him join their favorite team.
