Kent Hughes has just released two players and it's causing a stir
We were telling you about it, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens had some big decisions to make before June 1 regarding some prospects in the organization.
This notably concerned goaltender Frederik Dichow and youngster Jack Gorniak.
The verdict is out
It's now official. The day of June 1st is behind us, and the two players did not sign a contract with the CH.
Frederik Dichow and Jack Gorniak are therefore released and they are available for free for other NHL teams.
Gorniak, 23 years old, just finished a five-season stint with the University of Wisconsin, in the NCAA. He twice reached a personal best of 15 points, during the 2018-19 and 2021-22 campaigns.
As for Dichow, the young goalkeeper who was selected by the CH in the fifth round in 2019, played 16 matches this season with HC Frolunda in the Swedish elite league.
At the age of 22, he maintained an average of 2.76 goals allowed and an efficiency rate of nearly .900. His exploits at the recent World Hockey Championship were not enough to convince Kent Hughes.
Are you surprised that he was simply released?
