As the 2023 NHL lottery quickly approaches (in about 48 hours), many experts are already speculating about what Kent Hughes could do with his two first round picks.

The most dramatic twist scenario has certainly been put forward by the guys from BPM Sports, including former Montreal Canadien Georges Laraque.

According to him, the Canadiens could soon count on two promising young Quebecer players to strengthen their team.

Dubois and Lafrenière

It seems obvious that Pierre-Luc Dubois will be traded by the Winnipeg Jets, and it seems obvious that he wants to join the Habs.

On the other hand, Rangers fans are extremely critical of young Alexis Lafrenière, and there is more and more smoke suggesting he may be available on the trade market.

Knowing all this, hosts Max Van Houtte and Georges Laraque of BPM Sports have proposed an ambitious plan for the Canadiens' general manager.

Two major trades.

1- Trade the Panthers' first round pick and one or two B-quality prospects to the Jets in exchange for Pierre-Luc Dubois.

2- Trade the Canadiens' first round pick to the Rangers in return for Alexis Lafrenière.

What do you think?

Personally, we like trade number one, but we would be very reluctant to trade the Montreal Canadiens' first round pick. Youngsters like Will Smith, Zach Benson, or even Matvei Michkov could make us regret it.
