While many critics at the time of his draft called Caufield only a power play specialist and that it might be difficult for him to score other than with the man advantage, the opposite seems to be happening now.
What is most impressive about the little maverick's game is that he is literally dominant at even strength. This means that he is a threat at all times on the ice and is capable of producing throughout the game.
In fact, among the top 5-on-5 scorers, the 21-year-old winger ranks fourth with six goals and five assists for a total of 11 points.
Basically, the Habs' first round pick in 2019 has just two goals and one assist on the power play in 12 games.
This means two things: that Caufield is dominant at even strength and that he is producing despite a poor power play in Montreal.
Take a second to imagine, when the Tricolore can finally get a power play with a normal 20 percent efficiency, how the CH's young star is likely to produce.
