The image in question shows the young phenomenon completely devastated on the bench, following the elimination of the Regina Pats on Monday night.
Despite his 20 points (10 goals) in seven games, Bedard couldn't prevent his team from falling to the Saskatoon Blades in the first round of the WHL playoffs.
After this defeat, several analysts pointed out the poor job done by John Paddock, the general manager of the Pats, who failed to properly surround a player considered "generational".
Since Bedard's debut in 2021, Paddock has only made a few minor transactions, which led the Pats to a quick elimination after simply missing the playoffs last season.
A comparison was also made with the management of Doris Labonté during Sidney Crosby's time with the Rimouski Océanic.
From Crosby's selection at the 2003 LHJMQ draft, Labonté had done everything to build a winning team around the young sensation.
Labonté's work had led the Océanic to the Memorial Cup final in 2005. A final that Crosby and his team lost to the London Knights.
Bedard, on the other hand, did not have that chance, and now that his junior career is, in all likelihood, over, Paddock may regret having let this young phenomenon set records on a moribund team, rather than trying to surround him with better talent.
